Foothill Gold Line Phase 2A

The Foothill Gold Line extension is an 8-mile light rail line spanning from the City of Pasadena to the City of Azusa (parallel to the State Route 210 Freeway). The Project begins just east of the existing Metro Gold Line Sierra Madre Villa Station in Pasadena and runs along the former Burlington Northern Foothill Extension which connects the cities of Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and Azusa.

DLCE’s staff was responsible for the design and development of grade crossing designs and the preparation of California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) street grade applications. Staff also provided engineering support during the project’s construction phase for a number of structures including: Sierra Made Bridge and a number of retaining walls. DLCE also worked closely with the design-build contractor to oversee the development of the Monrovia rail vehicle storage facility.
